Jaggie News – Plenty to cheer about

Over the course of the summer the Juniors have seen a number of Clubs join the East Of Scotland League believing that this might provide a quicker entry to the pyramid system despite the fact that the Junior’s have also had discussions with the SFA and also look like joining the pyramid system from season 2019/20. With the Junior League’s being re-structured with the remaining teams, Scone now find themselves playing in the McBookie.com Premier league North along with last season’s Champions from the North: Dundee North End. In preparation for the opening games, today Scone play their first pre-season friendly against Lochore Welfare who now find themselves playing in the Premier league South. This will be the first opportunity for manager Derek Lawson to see how his squad is shaping up after a month of pre-season training under their belts. With a majority of last season’s squad re-signing Lawson has also bought in 7 new signings for the upcoming season with still a possibility of a couple more boosting the squad for 2018/19. The Club are delighted that striker Aaron Carlon who impressed last season has made his temporary transfer permanent as he looks to now establish himself in the Junior’s team. Goalkeeper John Bonnar has joined the Club who started his career at Dundee FC and will provide cover for David Winton who has now left the Club. Defenders Calum Kinnear & Ross Wilson join Scone and will add some pace at the back, Andy Webster who helped out in a couple of games last term has now joined the Club from Lochee utd Amateurs and Calum Cocker-Tough who also impressed at the end of last season has joined to add some additional pace up front.  Finally, David McPhee completes the current batch of signings, David started his career at Saints and previous Clubs include Jeanfield Swifts. We wish all the boys well for the forthcoming season and we will bring you any news of additional signings as they happen.

Off the pitch this summer, Scone are delighted to confirm that along with the Community Club and assistance from the Scottish Football partnership the current changing rooms are being upgraded for the new season and work is now well under way. Due to the upgrade work being carried out all of our Friendly games will be away from home and our first League fixture v Forfar Albion has now been switched to away, all of the friendly and opening league fixtures are available here.

Scone have also this year recruited a new Commercial manager Derek Balshaw who has been working hard generating sponsorship and anyone interested in Player sponsorship or assisting in any other way can contact commercial@sconethistlefc.org. Along with the SFA the Club have also now been appointed a Club Chaplin who is currently training with the SFA at Hampden and will be introduced to you over the coming weeks. Scone’s Clubman of the Year: Eric Duff has now extended his role also becoming the Club’s “safeguarding officer” which for any Club wanting to play u18’s is now a required requisite and Eric has now gained the necessary qualification to allow the Club to do that. Plenty to be positive about as the Club look to build off the back of 2 Top 6 finishes and we wish the Jaggies luck for 2018/19.
