Match report: Lochee Harp

Saturday 18th November at Farquharson Park, North Division

Saturday saw Lochee Harp travel to Scone for what has always been a tricky fixture & Scone have come along way when a draw is disappointing. Manager Derek lawson (sponsored by Colin Ogilvy Joinery) was able to welcome back Willie laing & Fraser MacDonald and had a full squad available. The game kicked off at the slightly earlier time of 1:45pm which caught a few later arrivals by surprise but both teams wasted no time in getting going. Despite having a depleted matchday squad, the Harp took the game to Scone in the opening minutes and it was Scone’s Josh Gorton that was forced into the first save of the match on 7 mins. Ben Moffat then had a chance at the other end but his effort was off target before Harp saw Gorton make another save from a corner on 10 mins. When Scone conceded a free kick on 25 mins it was Jonathan Smart that opened the scoring to give the visitors the lead. Ross Mitchell was the first to get a shot on target for Scone on 31 mins but with no further goals Lochee Harp took their lead into the break.

Half time score: Scone 0-1 Lochee Harp

One thing Scone have shown this season is plenty of resilience and it would be Scone that would go on to dominate the remainder of the match. Ross Mitchell came close just after the break but it was Ben Moffat that equalised on 53 mins after Kev Sinclair had provided the cross. As Scone pushed for the winner Ryan Mitchell in goal for the Harp pulled off a double save from Craig Mitchell 3 minutes later. A Max Avolio corner kick on 61 minutes was met by Kevin Sinclair who gave Scone a deserved lead. Jamie Ayton then came on for Ben Moffat on 74 mins as Scone searched for a 3rd to put the game beyond Harp’s reach. Fraser Morrison then replaced Max Avolio on 83 mins and it was at this point Scone were caught by the inevitable sucker punch as Harp broke away to equalize on 84 mins through Bradley Millar. Fraser MacDonald then replaced Stephen Moon for the dying minutes but the score was to remain level thanks to a late save from Josh Gorton.

Full time score: Scone 2-2 Lochee Harp

Man of the match for Scone: Josh Gorton (sponsored by the Baker Family) both keepers did well to keep their sides in the game and on a disappointing afternoon it will be the Harp that’s happier to leave with a point. Next up for Scone is the 3rd round of the Scottish Junior Cup v Kilsyth Rangers with a 1.45pm kick off.
